Conservative commentators: "This is an abomination!"Everyone else: "LOL, STFU."

If you're lucky, you'll find someone else who'll paint them for you. That's hot, as seen in the sexiest movie ever made, and the absolute only context in which sports are even slightly interesting, Bull Durham.

Jon Stewart gets the final word on this subject:

This is really an issue? They will cause that boy more issues with questioning his sexuality than the mom ever thought about when he looks back and sees the pandemonium his pink toe nails caused.
ReplyDeleteI think Steward had it best.
". . . .Really?"
Simone, I was hoping you'd paint my nails.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. It's a tough one. So easy to be PC here, but really? Is that a favor? It's a fine line between nonchalant discouragement, acceptance, encouragement and imposing our own adult ideas on a child.
ReplyDeleteMom looks like she's having too much fun for my taste. What happens to that kid when the other little boys see? Where's the greater damage done? Mommy saying "no, little boys don't paint their nails," or his playmates taunting, "fairy, fairy!"
Don't I have enough issues already without you poking my brain with these social dilemmas?
If I may steal a little more of your blog space I want to add another thought. When those others are taunting, what sense of betrayal will the boy have? "Why didn't Mommy tell me?" And where will he run for comfort? Back to Mommy. What's she do then? Tell him not to listen to those jealous boys and buy him some ruffled panties and a dress?
ReplyDeleteTry sorting that out! Maybe some of you are. This sounds vaguely familiar to blogs I've read.
Nah, the differences are with us and long will be, and I'm glad. If wearing a skirt were the same as wearing pants, what'd I do for a perversion then?
For those truly TS, or TG or whatever is the "correct" term, what would you do if there was no societal difference between boys and girls? How would you express your innate femininity then? If the vestments and doing "girly" things didn't exist. If we were only defined by body parts and chromosomes?
The funny thing for me is I think this is just good old-fashioned slick marketing by capitalists selling to the very people most likely to decry it. Certain of controversy and knowing the upscale liberal mindset that will buy just to prove their advanced evolution without any more thought than that.
Adults have a sense of sex and have been brainwashed into believing what is proper for each gender. At some point children realize there are differences but they certainly don't come with the baggage and years of images and roles that adults have. Let the boy enjoy his time with mom. And let mom enjoy time with the boy.
